What is funny is the complicated BS texts they write about these buildings. An example of such ridiculous test I just came up with, but drives the point home: "This modernist building has its facade punctuated with avant time elements that are broken by structural elements in odd places. However, the whole notion creates a sense of purposeful asymmetry, as if it was balanced.". I call it BS, because as good programming (I'm a software developer, sorry) does not need comments, as code is self-explanatory, architecture should not need explanation as well, as a building should be self-explanatory.

Exactly. In fact, aging should be considered always, because a new building that looks "OK" now will turn into an eye sore later. Materials are very important in that regard. Concrete invariable ages poorly, besides being dehumanizing. Stone ages beautifully.

Self-expression should be reserved for a painting or a piece of furniture to be put inside the own home.

@petefluffy7420 Office buildings, despite not having someone living in them, can still influence negatively the surrounding environment. Factory buildings and warehouses are even worse, as they encourage loitering at first, then illicit activities, then more serious crime. Is that clear enough?

This shows that modern architecture can learn lessons from the past. Well done!

@ligametis Obviously you don't know what McMansions are. McMansions borrow from several styles in a senseless fashion. Basically, the architecture is very disproportionate, and every window doesn't match the other. McMansions do not borrow from old styles. Instead, they are a mockery. Modern buildings can have interiors that are modern in style while the exterior part is more elegant and decorated, without resembling a McMansion at all. Besides, McMansions are shacks made of wood covered with plaster. Don't compare US shacks with European buildings. There is no possible comparison.

Some people actually do, but they do the opposite by design.

@fulippuannaghiti1965 So, we need WEF, is that it?

So, King Charles funded the project. The true mastermind is the architect. Kudos to the latter!

@juhomattimannisto6575 Funnily enough, most ugly buildings happen in a communist setting. Brutalist architecture is all about equality and government control. And most example of that are outright ugly, if not hideous, and not a single one has aged well.

I'm convinced that this is being instituted by design. Build amorphous concrete boxes instead of highly decorated and well proportioned, beautiful buildings.
