Some cities have transit police who will check whether your ticket is stamped. And will write you a ticket for not paying. Homeless will obviously not pay the tickets but they will get kicked off the train. I saw them doing this in French trams. Europe is full of white liberals also, but the difference is that they're not as idiotic as the American.

One thing about mass transit that American might not realize is that high speed rail is generally more expensive than an airplane. I took the train from Paris to Marseille and the ticket was 75 Euro one way. And a colleague who was arriving the same place flew from London at a lower price. That's why the US doesn't have high speed rail. Because the cities are too far apart to make it pay off.

@jacquelineking5783 China has high speed rail, but their population is much larger and concentrated in the east. It's also heavily government subsidized. And it's still cheaper to take the plan, by a little. Except there are smaller distances where the plan isn't an option.
