  1. Hey All! I didn't mention it in the video, but obviously don't cancel the card while you are still finishing the year you paid for. Obviously this is a decision to be made at the end of the year and you might even want to go for a retention offer first before officially cancelling. There is no downgrade path to a no annual fee card for the Gold. Cheers!

  4. This is for people running the AmEx Trifecta setup and having the Scwab instead of the vanilla platinum. It’s a popular setup and with the $320 in phone and streaming credits for the year, i don’t recommend canceling that card if someone has it.

  17. No, the $130 is the fee cost and the $216 is the opportunity cost. You need to earn back from this card more than $346 in a year to be better off than a 3% cashback no annual fee card.

  18. Propel points are Wells Fargo points, not AmEx points. They can be used only with Wells Fargo at a rate of 1 cent per point.

  25. There definitely is a quantifiable value to AmEx's service. If the card makes you happy and you enjoy the services of AmEx, and you want to pay an extra $130 a year for it, then keep the card! People spend money on what makes them happy.

  26. Depending on the bank, you can probably product change it in to a better more useful card. But if I were you, I wouldn't cancel it if it has no annual fee.

  27. Hey Raul! You can combine the new Gold Uber credit and Schwab uber credit. All you do is add the cards to your Uber Wallet on your account and the credits automatically show up on the 1st of the month. You don't even have to use the card, the credits are just there. As for is the AmEx Gold good now? Maybe. The Annual fee is $250. If the $120 dining credit, $120 uber credit, and the $100 airline fee credit for 2021 is valued by you greater than $250, then this card is a no-brainer now.

  36. Hey Mase! For 2021 you will get a $120 dining credit, $120 uber credit (this is new), and $100 airline credit. If you can use those three credits to gain more than the annual fee of $250 in value, then the card is a keep. Up to you!

  55. Yes and no. It depends how much you value the platinum (meaning it pays for itself) and that depends how much value you get from lounge access and hotel status. If you fly every month, the Platinum pays for itself. If you fly once a year, then the card is not worth it even with all of its credits.

  59. I agree, most are worth less than 1 cent per point. But AmEx is partnered with Amazon now and you get 1 cent per point there, so that is the new floor for redemption in my opinion because you can get anything on Amazon.
