Countries invite the US to have bases in their country to enhance their own security and defense capabilities. The presence of US forces acts as a deterrent against potential threats and provide the host country with security. It can also provide access to advanced military technology and training, which can improve the host country's military capabilities. The presence of US troops also contributes to stability in the region, which benefits the host country's economy, providing economic benefits, such as job creation and increased spending in local communities. China, with regards to the Philippines has been increasingly asserting their power, which means China claims sovereignty over the South China Sea and its islands, including the Spratly Islands, which are also claimed by the Philippines. China has constructed artificial islands in the area and militarized them, ignoring international law and the Philippines' exclusive economic zone. Harassing and intimidating Philippine fishermen and vessels in those waters. China's ambassador to the Philippines threatened retaliation if the Philippine government did not allow Chinese telecoms company Huawei to help build the country's 5G network. There have also been reports of Chinese companies winning contracts for Philippine infrastructure projects with little or no competition. China's use of power to coerce and pressure smaller countries is a cause of concern and the presence of the US military acts as a counterbalance to this out of balance power dynamic.

@trumpforever6706 Leaked battle plans obtained before and after the invasion indicate that Russia fully expected a quick and decisive victory within 10 days. There are several circumstantial evidence that suggest Russia planned for a short invasion. For instance, shortly after Ukraine repelled Russia's forces, Putin placed his intelligence chiefs under house arrest. These same chiefs were tasked with gathering intelligence about Ukraine and fostering support for Russia, suggesting that their sudden removal signified unanticipated challenges. Moreover, the tanks captured as part of the 40-mile column heading towards Kyiv only had supplies and gas for 3 days and Russian soldiers had their dress uniforms packed inside. These actions are hardly indicative of an army preparing for a prolonged campaign. You dont pack your dress uniform if youre going to be fighting in the trenches for months, you pack them for parades. Russia's tactics in the first few weeks, also support the conclusion that they planned for a short, sharp attack. Their three-line advance towards Kyiv, and their decision to send in elite paratroopers to occupy surrounding airports, suggest a blitzkrieg strategy aimed at quickly ending the conflict. There are a host of other supporting evidence that I couldnt be bothered to list. Its a fact that Russia thought it was going to last a few days.
