@misterbig9025 We had many thousands of them here in Canada. Generally, they were pretty lightly guarded. Bears in the woods around them were more effective than barbed wire.

Oh, look. The trigger and hand grip are BEHIND the magazine so that you don't have to reach around the mag to shoot it. What a design breakthrough!

@al28854 You should see the Lewis guns that they lugged around while assaulting trenches in WWI.

@al28854 The Canadian Corps structured their units differently from the Imperial Army. They included specialist Lewis Gunners and Mills Bombers (boys who grew up playing baseball!) regularly mixed in with their assaulting units. It worked well at Vimy and later. Lewis Gunners operated in pairs with one carrying the weapon and another carrying paniers of ammunition.

5.56mm is now the standard NATO-wide round for rifles.

@BStuz It doesn't rotate the rifle sideways a bit? That would make it a bit harder to use a scope.
