@davidrobertsemail I'm not necessarily saying that it's a mistake. It's just that F-35 order lists are so long and production is so slow that you won't see more than a handful of them this decade, anyway. There is a huge global demand for these, Britain is one of many customers. You can't buy them off the shelf. The F-35B is literally as complicated as a space shuttle. These are not cheap cars and you don't step up production by adding another shift.
The United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands, Norway, Australia, Canada and Denmark are the original consortium members, all buying them, with Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Belgium and Poland also purchasing the F-35. UK doesn't have particularly special "preferred" status there.
