Canada is not a "gas giant" but she is an oil giant and a mineral superpower. Unfortunately, Germany's immediate needs are for gas and there is no infrastructure in place to export Canadian LNG to Europe. It might be possible to do so on an emergency basis by using American export facilities until something permanent is in place.

@goenzoy712 No, it's not. Canada's natural gas reserves aren't spectacularly large right now. There is reputed to be a lot of gas in the Gulf of St. Lawrence but there is a moratorium o exploration, there. Quebec has known reserves in the lower St. Lawrence , for instance that have not been exploited. Who knows what they'll find in the high Arctic eventually?
