  1. probably because britain has been acting like they did in the 1980ss where the government ignores anything that would actually help, and instead of nationalizing or setting price caps and regulations, they're going to borrow their way out of this, which is morbidly ironic given how austerity has been killing british citizens for more than a decade since the same conservatives decided not having a national debt was paramount above all else. that or markets don't like the way they're soending money while also reducing the monitary supply with interest rate hikes

  2.  @Anonymous-ld7je  maybe the governments of the west for the most part are as small as they are going to be able to get while still vaguely functioning. When has the US government actually grown anything except the security state in the last 40 years? the british government has been hatcheting itself for the last 20 years, on top of 20 years of conservatives before blair, so how much can be cut?
