  1. most likely: China gets fed up, does a 'regime change' or 'demiliterization' effort, the north korean military stands around wondering what to do because china can't be their enemy, yet as its troops turn towards them they don't really have a plan to resist as their terrain doesn't benefit them. They install a 'democratic' but still communist government and end Stalin's pet dynasty for good
