  1. half the problem with the osprey was that they couldn't build a gearbox capable of handling the tilting rotors, the other half of the problem with the osprey was tilting and rotating both of the engines because they couldn't build a gearbox capable of handling the tilting rotors. Now that we've been able to build such a gearbox, Bell built a completely new tilt rotor plane/craft in less than 5 years
