WW2 in real time w/Indy Neidell is also doing stalingrad, not as well or in detail of course, though at least Eastory's map making saves the day. It's enjoyable but it keeps throwing me when I watch a TIK video i'm like "wait, i thought they already" Paulus finished as a chief of police in East Germany this says a lot about his character...

@CruelDwarf Thank you. I am perhaps unclear. I am trying to point out how bad translations arise: A translator could easily take the Russian word boets and translate it into English as bayonets to parallel the Russian text which elsewhere uses schtik. English does not however use "bayonet" or "sabre" as Russian does. A better translation would be "combat soldier" or "combat infantrymen". I'm simply trying to explain how translations go so that whoever translates from Russian into English uses the proper English terminology (combat soldier, combatant) because these are distinct from non-combatant service and support soldiers who are usually doing supply, cooking, maintenance. A Russian native speaker would naturally want to use "bayonets" or "sabres" here even though English does not.

boyets is the russian word for "combat soldier" which is why you get to learn about how many russian "bayonets". It's not so much a translator's error as it is a translators shortcut (we all do it).
