Comments by "Quizmaster China" (@QuizmasterLaw) on "MAUS! Was Hitler right to build the super-heavy tanks of WW2?" video.
"tank" in this video is obviously a code word for "the labor theory of value"

btw the Germans almost started producing T-34 tanks. They had an entire factory in Kharkiv for bringing captured T-34s up to German technical standards.

Maybe do a satire video where you "stick to tanks" and make jokes about tankonomics? People love humor.

Hitler did have, and also believed in the proppaganda value of , grand fantasy, the theatrics of politics. Ever see his plans for berlin post-victory?

Spoiler: NO. 1) burn lots of fuel, you know , that thing Germany is short of 2) super heavy tanks usually burn out the drive train and transmission even tracks 3) super heavy tanks tend to sink in snow and mud. Welcome to Russia 4) super heavy tanks often can't cross bridges 5) super heavy tanks are just as vulnerable to aerial attack as ordinary tanks.

You may have noticed? Hitler had a tendency to set impossible goals in order to drive his subordinates; he also tended to set them into competition against each other. It's entirely possible hitler knew his 100 ton tank was crazy stupid, and that Speer was just humoring him, and that Hitler was trying to drive competition for production between Speer and Todt. I expect Maus would never have gone into production. It's a fantasy unit.

Leadership principle + Ferdinand Porsche = Heavies Porsche and Krupp wanted to sell tanks and stell. Heavies do that. Porsche did have a thing for heavy tanks with complex drive trains. I don't think he was a saboteur, just a profiteer. Anyway no one seems to want to point the finger at the industrialists. Hitler's views of heavies were like this: he wanted the best. The leadership principle meant subordinates got the chance to produce. Those who did got promoted, those who didn't did not. Porsche did occasionally lose tank contracts! But yeah, it's not really Hitler's fault but in the post war era lots of the industrialists stayed in positions of power privilege and after the 1950s even returned to wealth and respectability.
