  5. MHV is much more accurate. Sure, I speak roughly: We're talking about the world's two most brutal dictatorships, fighting the world's bloodiest war. You're gonna meet IRL nazis and IRL Stalinists. The purges clearly diminished Soviet military effectiveness, as can be seen by comparing Zhukov against Japan to Timoshenko in Finland. So your proposition is a non starter. You equate getting sacked and needing to find a new job (with no blacklist btw) to being sent to a labor camp (-60% survival rate, thin rations, cold cold winters, literal Siberia) ; or just outright shot. And you think that has no effect on morale, initiative or tactical training? It clearly demonstrably did, and much more so than any "purges" in the West. This is all empirical, verifiable. You're examining the war practices of two brutal dictatorships in the world's bloodiest war. And you expect what, accolades, when you get it wrong? However, your video on Stalingrad airlift was worth watching.

All those conscripts had no training or leadership; had Tukachevsky's officer corps still been around (presuming T. was not in fact plotting to remove Stalin by coup) then they would have had at least some training and trained leaders. You never bring out why Stalin purged Tukachevsky (fear of a coup) and whether that fear was justified (quite possibly was, Stalin was a monster and thus had many enemies whom he killed or imprisoned -- along with a bunch of innocent people). If Tukachevsky was plotting to get rid of Stalin then of course purging him was the right move for Stalin. Soviet 1942 conscripts learned tactics in battle, pure and simple. Soviet tactics at this point were "shoot at whatever the company commander is shooting at", really. That changed as the war continued because the survivors of 1942 had at least some experience and the survivors of 1943 quite a bit. By 1944 the Soviet army was proficient. But all that experience was gained at great loss of life, which would not have been the case had Tukachevsky not been purged. Idk why you fail to see that.

What about that Time Roosevelt made the Army Air Force general staff jump out of airplanes witout parachutes? We all know Hitler purged the S.A., but no, there was no blood purge of the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, or Reichsmarine or S.S. Stalin's purges were qualitatively different, and had consequent effects as can be seen with a simple comparison of Timoshenko to Zhukov. Only the willfully blind or dishonest cannot see that. Which are you?

  9. No, because Russia invaded Finland with a 10 to 1 advantage in men and equipment (more than 10 to 1 in equipment, much more) Yet was fought to a standstill. In contrast, in the far east5 not purged Zhukov with his not purged units kicked the shit out of Japan. If the purges were not so important there would be no discrepancy of performance.   11. bullshit, but it's bullshit you probably believe, though inconsistent with the historic facts of excellent finnish performance and terrible russian performance. if you ever lived in finland you would quickly figure out the finns hate russia, and rightly so because of lies and invasions and horrible governance. finland was occupied by russia for decades, so was estonia. they hate russians, and why? because the russians oppressed them for centuries. by all means indulge in your bolshevist fantasies and lies. facts are facts.
