@Edax_Royeaux Edax Russia on defense is 4-0 win/loss. Ask the Mongols, Swedes, French, and Germans. It's 1/1 for World Wars and 0-1 for cold wars. Russia is VAST and even after Brest-Litovsk 1917 remained in control of the bulk of ethnic Rus. They can't invade worth a shit so you must sucker them into striking the first blow. Otherwise, Hem. Seriously, Russia is the best country on earth in defense. Just read history. Even better than Afghans, who can easily be set at each others' throats. The U.S. error in Afghan was to seek a peaceful stable victory (which is impossibe) as opposed to a permanent inter-Afghan war which it could easily get (and may get anyway!). Tribal savages. Not politically correct but neither is putting literal bullets in your enemies heads.

@Edax_Royeaux Although around 20 million Soviet citizens certainly died between around 1930 and 1945 a lot of them were due to Stalin's famine and purges as well as "internal exile" i.e. gulags. I can well imagine 10 even 15 million dead Soviets caused by Hitler. But however incomplete and inaccurate or limited or broadly defined it is not 40 million dead, not even from 1930-1945. While these are incomprehensible numbers by Western standards, welcome to Russia. I did not say their victories were pretty or clean. And you know? They really would Never have surrendered even if 90% were killed. Why? because fuck you, that's why.

The people in the USSR could not surrender even if they wanted to and by 1942 they most definitely did not! Stalin or no Stalin changes nothing about that fact.

Is Einsatzgruppen or Kommisar Order verboten on youtube? because those are a couple reasons the Sovs could not surrender. it was a war of extermination a Vernichtungskrieg.

What are your options in 1942 if you live in the USSR facing nazi occupation? Enslavement or Extermination. Consequently, no surrender, Stalin or no Stalin.

@giupiete6536 Germany's best chance to invade Britain in 1940 is by airborne and airlanding. Germany did not have the sealift needed but did have the airlift. To win this way they must first have suppressed the RAF which they were well on their way to doing. But then Britain smartly bombed a German city and Shitler just haaaad to have revenge so he switched from suppressing the RAF to bombing cities and so lost the battle of Britain. One more month of airfield suppression and you now can run the battle of Crete (operation Merkur) in Britain at a nice airfield. And then you just fly your ground forces in. Ok, no tanks, hard supply, but then again Britain doesn't have tanks either and you have flying artillery. Sure the quisling government would be hated but I do not imagine Britons as sufficiently savage or desperate as to wage the type of guerilla war of extermination which RussianThunderrr can tell you all about.

Everyone in this thread needs to explain to RussianThunderr that we're not pussies and also how it is that Shitler rolled over the West so very fucking easily whereas in contrast smert spionov in Russia. The people fantasizing about Trotsky need to notice Stalin solved that problem permanently. They also need to understand that Germany absolutely tried to run a fascist and/or Trotskyite coup in Russia in 1937-1938 which is why all the purges. It's like you only see history partially. You gotta put yourself in the other fuckers' shoes.

@giupiete6536 German tactical air was in fact quite effective. Also it is "would have" not "would of". You might be ESL and you might want to improve your grammar since it makes it tough for others to take your substantive argument seriously. You can simply look at Crete to see that 1) the Germans could have done it 2) it would have been quite costly. Hitler did in fact order the Luftwaffe to hold back on the British at Dunkirk targeting equipment not personnel because he was vainly hoping for a negotiated peace. It doesn't bother me that you are wrong about German tactical airpower and airlanding since others can see that too. Do try to improve your grammar, it makes you more credible.

@giupiete6536 A guy whose name sounds out as "Jew Pete" calling me secretly nazi isn't really worth replying to. Go ahead, read up on the suppression of radar installations and factories for productions of fighters. Of course Hitler did destroy the British empire, and said as much during the war. Since I'm an anti-imperialist I am a-ok with that. Then again I'm no fan of fascist imperialism, what with being an anti-imperialist. So I guess it's a wash? I repeat: the Nazis were well on their way to completely suppressing the RAF by targeting figther factories and airfields and radar installations. Hitler put a stop to that. Yay! Had he not switched from targeting the RAF to targeting London then the Nazis would indeed have obtained air superiorit and then suppressed the RN and then invaded, though even then they would have had insufficient sealift. Try not to fulfill godwin's law, that also makes your arguments look weaker.

@lewistaylor2858 i'm honestly unsure how large Rus / Novgorod was at that time in history, how many vassals or satraps the Russians could bring. I just studied the battles not the strategic outlook. Before the Great Northern War Sweden was one of Europes great powers. After, no longer.
