@TheLastSterling1304 Soviet ToE at this point is so chaotic and peppered with disinformation that anything is possible. Some corps will in fact be corps strength. Others will not even be as strong as a division. This isn't merely war time chaos or bad soviet central planning. It is also and more importantly effective Soviet deception operations.

@TheImperatorKnight it's likely 53 degrees Fahrenheit not celsius. Which month?
3
@TheImperatorKnight well, that's clearly summer so it must be celsius and a misreading, possibly due to being surrounded by all that hot armor OR possibly because they are reading the temperature where it actually matters which is INSIDE A TANK
3
True, it mightbe a very basic translator's error. Or that they measured the temperature inside the tanks. tanks back then obviously had no airconditioning and were terribly hot. 127 f is entirely possible inside a tank in the summer there.

24:40 well, part of capturing Stalingrad was to cut off the Volga as a waterway to haul goods notably oil from the Caucuses. I.e. the objective was not only capture oil but also deny oil to the Soviets. Just like Germany needed oil so also did the USSR need oil. I know currently there are gas fields in Siberia and maybe even oil fields but i am believe the Siberian petrol has mostly or even entirely been developed since the 1970s.

Unfortunately you underestimate Soviet BT tanks and overestimate German tanks. The Panzer IVs were mostly IVd, not IVf2 and thus lacked a high velocity antitank gun. They were infantry support tanks. The Pz. IIIs mostly mounted hte 50mm, at best the 50l60. By now most of the Pz IIIs armed with 37mm had been fazed out. The BTs did however lack radios. They were fast, lightly armored and armed with cannons which at 500m range could in fact defeat German tanks even at the frontal facing. Also some of the German tanks were open topped panzerjaeger, tank destroyers and also some were infantry support vehicles. The 2-1 tank ratio is accurate for these reasons. The German "medium" tanks were equivalent to the soviet "light tanks" (they even still fielded Pz IIs at this point), and there were no German equivalents to the T34c yet. IVfs started to arrive by autumn. TLDR: The IVf was available in 1942 but only in limited numbers. Most IVs were still IVd.

@nottoday3817 Omega Alpha The IV is a medium but the IVd had only a low velocity cannon and was for that reason not particularly useful against tanks. 75 l 24 simply cannot defeat armor, that's not its intended role. 50mm could likewise not defeat even T34c frontal facing. Pz III was inferior even to the sherman. This is why the PzIIIs were all turned into StuGs by 1943. German tank tactics in 1942 were often about how to get T34s into position for side shots where the 50mm cannon would have at least a chance of a hull penetration.
