The only reason for using 5w oils is if you usually deal with -40-45*C winter temps at start up. That's what w(inter) oils were created for. Blending 5w oils compared to more viscous ones like 10w, 15w or monograde oils requires to use less viscous base oils and add more viscosity modifier to keep their 100*C viscosity at the same level. You pay for viscosity modifier and deal with it's solubility problems (very common nowadays) to produce these winter oils. Current monograde oils like SAE 30 freeze at -25*C. And they don't have viscosity modifiers at all. Do you really need winter oils in your region? The main and almost always only one friction modifier being used in engine oils is ZDDP and it has been used for nearly last 100 years. It's content in modern oils hasn't increased, but lowered because it's not eco-friendly. All these modern LowSAPS oils have half ZDDP compared to old good monograde mineral oil.

@MDEV-86x86 1. Oil even without ZDDP at all will kill catalytic converter. If your engine consumes oil your cat.conv. will die. Just repair your engine. While your engine is not 2T or rotary it shouldn't consume any oil. 4T engines don't consume oil by design. 2. Where did you get that info about lifters? They are simple hydraulic devices. They will work fine until wearing out or clogging with sludge. High ZDDP level doesn't lead to neither of these.
