Comments by "" (@DKSingh-wf8tn) on "Congress got the messaging right in Punjab but the Gandhis and Sidhu can’t celebrate yet" video.
Gandhi siblings' love for him is confounding to me, you and everyone else, in fact. I am ok if they hated Amarinder Singh's guts. A Cong leader advised him to call the then Cong. Pres. "Rahul ji". Capt. snapped: " I am his father's friend. He should call me Uncle." Well, CMs are expected to be the family's regents; they can't behave like sovereigns, no matter who they are. So, if they replaced a regional satrap because they wanted to establish the high command's writ, it's still fine (given the personality/ family cult we, Indian voters, love). We are so used to it, no? But if they did it for Sidhu- someone who can't understand the political implications of hugging a Pakistani army chief and someone who flew back in the middle of an England series because he misunderstood his then captain Azharuddin's words of affection- the Gandhis must be losing it.

I am afraid you got me wrong. I was always saying the BJP had an edge in Assam although, frankly, I shouldn't have. Not my job to predict. The Congress strategy in Assam, as I still believe, was better than what we have seen elsewhere. But strategies have their limitations in electoral politics and we have seen it in West Begal and many other states. At the end of it, everything boils down to whether the people connect with you- your politics, your ideology and how you have touch their lives as a ruling or opposition party.

@kallachi729 Absolutely

Politically, it may look like an astute move but I am not sure if such tokenism works for voters beyond a certain point.

That's a million-dollar question for me, too.

Thank you, Kanavi saheb. If I may, the fact is SG is the one who constantly watches over us to ensure that we remain unbiased.

Thank you so much, Nagesh ji, for your insight. I had also heard of liquor lobby's role but didn't have such detailed knowledge. And the proverb you have cited is so apt. Is it a Kannada proverb? Will be grateful if you could send me the exact translation. Thanks again. Really enjoyed reading your thoughts.

I tend to agree to Pat McLaughlin's views here

Thank you

I don't think he will be asked to resign. This unwritten age criterion is not applicable to the President and Governors, as I understand. Anyway, the next presidential poll is just a few months away. Btw, just checked, he will turn 76 this October.

Thanks a lot, Bhaskar.

Yes, the Congress remains divided but it's still much better as compared to other state units. By the way, did you follow the proceedings in Karnataka assembly? It was fun to hear (translated for me, of course) Siddaramaiah and Bommai, discussing Idli and Dosa prices in the Assembly the other day. I am not the judge who can decide the winner in that round, but they were talking in a language that people would identify themselves with.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Vaghela ji. While such appreciation is really motivating, it makes my job a lot tougher in terms of meeting your expectations all the time. Will try my best though. Warm regards,

Thank you for your kind words, Dr Bisht. To be honest, I look up to quite a few for lessons.

I also expect some kind of understanding developing there. Fingers crossed.

Agree it's my hypothesis only, observing the Gandhis' fascination with him. You may be proved right though. One can't rule out anything in politics.
