Yes, you were being unfair to me if you were trying to compare me with him because he is a legend in our profession, literally. We don't have any other editor of his stature, knowledge and substance in Indian journalism today.

  3. Totally agree, Mr Ranganathan. I won't contest the fact that I may be often ' tentative and defensive', as you point out. Having been a newspaper reporter for over two decades, this think-before-you-speak (write) mantra is difficult to get rid of. I can't have the extravagance of a TV reporter. I sincerely urge you to judge me by my contents. I promise to.bring you the facts and then leave it to you to judge them, regardless of how I present them.

  8. Of course, I am, Ayush. I am neither a politician used to addressing rallies nor an academic who can lecture in a class even when he/she is half-asleep. I think my job as a journalist is to present a bunch of facts to you and try to explore and share some perspective. You may or may not agree but my job I think is to leave these facts to you to let you draw your own conclusions/inferences.
