  6. I think the Congress was well-placed to retain power with Amarinder Singh at the helm despite anti-incumbency. The SAD was on the political margins, the AAP a divided house and the BJP a non-player. There was no need for the Congress to create political instability. In fact, even bringing a Dalit Sikh to replace Amarinder Singh looked like a smart move. The only problem is Channi has been unable to deliver on issues that he was targeting his predecessor for and Sidhu won't let him settle. The Congress is looking like a party that's hell-bent on losing the election. Amarinder Singh may not win but the moot point is how much he can damage the Congress. What's adding to confusion and uncertainty is which way the farmers' leaders would go from here. Frankly, one should wait a few more weeks before wagering on anyone.

  9. You've got me wrong. I wasn't trying to suggest Amarinder Singh would win. I was comparing Azad with him just to drive home the point that the former was always a 'Delhi politician' despite his chief ministerial stint.

  13. Thanks, Soham. Agree with you that if the Congress focuses on these states, it will have better prospects. And yes, if Priyanka Gandhi can secure 10 per cent votes for the Congress in UP 2022, the Congress can look forward to building on it. Only that I am not so optimistic about the Congress in UP.
