Varekai Ascendant Just found this article that supports my argument https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/jan/21/nathan-phillips-vietnam-veteran-status-question/

Varekai Ascendant he did serve his country and deserves respect for that. He didn’t specifically say he had active duty in Vietnam, however he didn’t correct all accounts that said he was a Vietnam veteran. This guy has already been caught out lying trying to destroy the lives of a group of teenage boys. The last straw for the public will be when it is proven that he has also been deceitful about serving in Vietnam as a marine.

He may be a veteran , but he he is not a Vietnam veteran.. he joined as a marine in 1972.. the last marine troops were withdrawn from Vietnam in April 1971

Varekai Ascendant Philips was supposedly a Marine and the last marine combat troops lefts in April 1971.. there were other combat troops that didn’t leave until August 1972. However after that only civilians remained until the official ending of the Vietnam war in 1975. Here is a timeline of Vietnam war. http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/vietnam/index-1969.html

Varekai Ascendant phased US troop withdrawal started July 1969. Apparently Philips was in service between 1972 and 1976 as a marine. The last marine combat troops withdrew in April 1971. Last of all other combat troops were out by 1972. Any remaining DOD personnel until 1975 were not combat troops. A dd214 on Philips will come out very soon and we will know for sure if he served as a combat veteran in Vietnam.

Karen Reed I have seen accounts that said he was in service between 1972 and 1976 so that suggests he joined up after the last marine combat troops left Vietnam
2
Fernando Aguirre I doubt if you have the balls to join the military

The last marine combat troops withdrew from Vietnam in April 1971. If he is 64 then he would have been 16 when the last combat troops left Vietnam
