Well, you’ve made your choice based on the potential risk of Covid based on your medical history. There are others who are much healthier than you who have virtually zero risk of an adverse effect of Covid who may choose not to risk a vaccine that has not been FDA approved

@PaulBrown-uj5le FFS do some research, Pfizer and Biotech as well as Moderna have applied for Full FDA approval , and this is still being processed . They only have emergency use authorisation at the moment .

These vaccines don’t prevent contracting or transmission of Covid. So she can still catch and transmit it

For most young and healthy people Covid is either asymptomatic or very mild . So she has obviously weighed up the risk of Covid versus the risk of injecting an experimental substance that has not yet got got FDA approval.

@vercoda9997 it’s risk assessment game, your risk of dying from Covid is much much higher than a young healthy person so they are willing to wait to get more data on side effects from a vaccine that has not yet received FDA approved.

@PaulBrown-uj5le I did not say no children died , I said children who died are the exception not the rule . Usually if younger people die it’s because they have preexisting health conditions. It doesn’t matter how many people you know in your small world that have died of Covid because the CDC data speaks for itself.

@frankied.roosevelt6232 its not rocket science , if you have co morbidities and are younger then you have the choice to get the vaccine . Each individual weighs up their own risk profile and make their own decisions. However , if you are young and healthy, then the risk of dying from Covid is extremely small.

@MyNeriah firstly , you do realise these vaccines do not prevent contracting and transmission of Covid, so chances are if you get vaccinated then you are more than likely to lessen or drop the social distancing and hand hygiene practices, so are more likely to contract and spread covid. secondly, by definition a rare disease is rare so its far more likely that you will know of your co morbidities and obesity. finally, if your risk profile for covid makes a vaccine a less riskier option, then by all means do it, however , if your risk profile for covid is very low, then my suggestion is wait for more data to come out on the vaccines efficacy and long term adverse effects. This doesn't mean low covid risk people who are waiting for more data on the vaccines should not maintain social distancing and hygiene practices, quite the opposite.

@PaulBrown-uj5le FFS , look at the CDC data on Covid deaths versus age . You are 1300 times more likely to die if you contract Covid if you are 65 to 74 versus under 17 years old . This ratio goes up to 8700x more if you are 85 plus.

@Zentiu Covid, like the flu is here for good . I’m not against vaccines in general , however my risk profile allows me to wait until I feel enough data is collected on all the short and long term side effects of these vaccines have been determined .. once that happens and I’m happy with the results , I’ll then consider getting the jab.

@MyNeriah come on ! How hard is it to do a Google search and you’ll find that these vaccines have not got full FDA Approval. They only have emergency use authorisation. It Will take another 6 to 10 months for the FDA to process the current applications for full FDA approval .

@Zentiu as I said I’ve assessed my risk profile and even if I get Covid , it’s more than likely I’ll be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. That doesn’t mean I’m running around in crowded places. I still social distance and make sure I wish my hands , it more to avoid flu than Covid

@MyNeriah I’m a physicist. So what ? Emergency use authorisation is not as rigorously tested for long term adverse effects and duration of effectiveness as full FDA approval . If you’re happy to be injected with a vaccine that has not been rigorously evaluated for long term adverse effects than go for it , I will be waiting .
