  4. Kelly And Sam Seed. There is no doubt there are a lot of real victims of serious sexual abuse where their claims should be taken seriously and if they come out 36 years later they should still be taken seriously. However, there are also women who are using the #metoo movement to make illegitimate and frivolous claims, purely with an ulterior motive in mind and with the Ford case this claim does not pass the smell test. Firstly, she wasn’t raped and the alleged perpetrators were “ stumbling drunk” teenage boys not someone who was in a position of authority that would make it hard to report the incident out of fear . I think most women in that case would have reacted by thinking “I was lucky to get out of that one” . the life lesson learned would be don’t hang around drunken boys at an unsupervised parties. Secondly, I tend to believe claims by adults who come out 30 years later and say they were raped by people in positions of power when they were children, example victims of priests , because there is no ulterior motive for naming the priest. With the Ford case the timing of making this claim is obviously designed to stop his confirmation . The claim wreaks of ulterior motive. So in general I agree with you in taking claims seriously, but there are also horrible women out there with frivolous claims who are abusing the #metoo movement for political and other purposes and the result is that real victims are more afraid to come out now because women like Christine Ford have abused a movement for their their own political gain.
