  1. All good until somebody steals your car and you find out the renter was an identity thief.... bye bye car. Also, shady owners rent rebuilt/savage cars that have no airbags, no functioning safety equipment, and title wash the cars to get them on TURO. Also, watch for owners who charge bogus damages and cleaning fees. They frequently charge for "smoking" cleaning charges we you didn't smoke in their car. Always check glass for tiny chips and wheels for curb rash. Photograph every body panel, bumpers, and wheels. Photo entire interior, including floors and floor mats. Missing floor mats is another common host fraud to get damage fees. Just like Airbnb, the TURO "hosts" can be shady AF and criminal.... a used car lot in Newark NY rented us a car on TURO, and tried to screw us. Car (Kia Forte) had the airbag fault light on, was dirty, and reeked of marijuana. The host "Hassan" tried to say we smoked pot in his car upon return.... c'mon man.
