Ya, I think legally and philosophically that would be tenable with our Founder's ideals for America. They SHOULD NOT vote while in prison. Once they serve their sentence and their Constitutional Rights are restored they should be able to vote. Its not an issue of morality. Its an issue of a LEGAL STANDARD that must be OBSERVED in the WIDEST POSSIBLE sense so it is not OBSTRUCTED in the MOST NARROW contexts

@fermiticus4034 Ya but the reason you know you will lose your right to vote is because you know how the laws are written right now. It is not only UNCONSTITUTIONAL to with-hold representation of US CITIZENS paying TAXES it was considered an ACT of WAR by our Founders who USED WEAPONS and defeated the British Empire's army. If you PAY TAXES you should be able to VOTE. That IS the PRINCIPLE and it CANNOT BE shucked away. Thats how we GOT HERE.

@fermiticus4034 If Republicans had any intelligence they would TAKE THE LEAD on making sure that when people leave prison they are able to vote

@fermiticus4034 I would think the 'some time' would be the time they served. I think they should have their rights restored the minute they leave the jail. Coming up with reasons to REMOVE liberties is how our Constitution went from being a POSITIVE LIBERTIES document to a NEGATIVE LIBERTIES document. The price of it is TOO great. You pay taxes you get to vote. You pay TAXES you should be REPRESENTED in line with the CONSTITUTION. To do even a tad less erodes EVERYONE's rights, liberties and privileges.

@illwill5116 *Ya, Ive seen that in the town I grew up in. Our own Mayor has a psychopath for a son. He would pick fights with people and then pay other guys to beat the person to a pulp. He had a guy beaten who spent 4 month in the hospital. He should have gone to prison for 5 to 7 years. They made a deal that he would leave and join the Navy. The guy who got beaten up was charged also to protect the Mayor's family. I was living out of state at the time but I was so angry I almost flew back home to try and get some of the wealthy people I know to band together and go to the Circuit Judge and demand an investigation. I was livid.*
