When I was a child, my father would take me to a dentist for cleaning every six months as recommended by the crooked dental association in canada at the time. And nearly every time I went, the crooked dentist "found" a cavity or two that required a much more expensive fillings than just cleaning. So sadly, I have a mouthful of fillings. I learned he was a lyer when I was a teenager and one appointment he told me I had THREE cavities! I had braces at the time and had my Orthodontist appointment a few days later, so I told him that I'd come back next week after exams. He told me not to wait too long as the cavities would get worse. When I saw my Orthodontist I asked if I had any cavities and she said no! I never returned to that crooked dentist and didn't go to any dentist until I was an adult and had dental coverage through my work. When I did return to a dentist over 20 years later for a cleaning, that dentist asked when the last time I had a cleaning was and told me my teeth are fantastic when I told him over 20 years ago. So parents, ALWAYS get a second opinion when your child's dentist tells you they have cavities.
