@wboquist States are not going away anytime soon. What if we could capture the state and use it to our own advantage and use it to oppress our enemies? Also, they need us to be different so they can use those differences to divide us and to keep us at each other's throats.

That's a neat quote. I consider myself a progressive, but I think we should preserve our traditions that are good, and the few that may be bad we can scrap, but we still shouldn't forget them and try to erase them from history.

You can't honorably appropriate and boast over the accomplishments of others. Your ancestors may have done some impressive things, but what have you done? 😂

Those who are easily angered are easily controlled. These sorts of attacks are deliberate provocations. Don't give them what they want. Don't commit the crime they accuse you of. Don't give in to chauvinism, ultra-nationalism, racism or xenophobia. Take the high road and we will win. All cultures and peoples are equal, and deserve equal respect. Don't be like your enemy and disparage and dehumanize other peoples, ethnicities and tribes.

You can be against the violence and aggression without diminishing the Norse people as a whole. Some of that was probably done out of desperation, and the most sordid tales are probably propaganda, but regardless the vast majority of Norse people most likely were just Farmers & Traders.
