  1. Basically, the west cannot bear the thought of another power that is not under their foot. Formerly, it was USSR. Now Russia, and China to follow. But this time they are not going to have their way. Russia has the military strength of the USSR and the economic strength (a real eye opener). China has also military and economic power. Needless to say Russia + China cannot be crushed by the west.

  2. Sanctions are here to stay. De-industrialisation of Europe is also here to stay. Glass factories are shut in France. Aluminium and steel factories are shutting in Germany and Europe. Once shut for a long time, they are closed for good. Europe will import steel and aluminium from China and India, who will get cheaper energy. Russia can also supply through a back channel which will be arranged. Europe can import these providing it makes something else - I don't know what.

  3.  @batanena  Everything goes according to US plans because most Europeans think they have common shared values with Americans. The European leadership, media and much of the public also believe in this.
