It's funny how a lot of Spanish, Italian, and English words, (Latin roots?), are so close to each other, I wonder why they changed at all. But they do change, and so do the things they describe. It's one reason why the US shouldn't have an official language. It has to have fluidity. That said, using the terms "nothing burger" and "no there there" should be punishable by death. Nothing political. Just because they sound so stupid and don't make sense.

I'm a white American. I used to wait tables in an authentic Spanish restaurant where one of the owners and myself were literally the only Americans there. I barely knew any Spanish, but the American owner recruited me from a Tex-Mex place to have at least one English speaker to kind of smooth things over for guests who got frustrated with all of the Spanish. That didn't happen much, but it did happen. I never encountered anyone like this douchebag, though.
