  2. I was on the staff of the NATO Multi National Division Centre which was the air mobile division of the ARRC (Allied command europe, Rapid Reaction Corps). Our very first field exercise was in Denmark early 90s and the 31st Luftlande Brigade was equipped with these excellent armoured vehicle. However they were deployed by helicopter. Most impressive.

  3. Yes its good to clarify this....it reminds me of 'Watergate' adding the term 'gate' to every political scandal that has happened since nixon's demise. Terms lime the Russian idea of Deep Battle better describe the concept, if not quite as catchy.....manouvre warfare, more professional more accurate and reflecting better the authors of the idea such as liddel hart and even Wavell in a practical sense, later expounded further by Guderian in his work 'Achtung Panzer'.....(.Assault rifle is another comparison as to how words and terminology have been overtaken by myth).

  5. It's old but a good tank and it's better than nothing. After all, a Russian T72 was engaged and destroyed by the 30mm canon of a BTR4 recently. The logistics are an issue of course, as personnel would need to be trained, but in principle, why not!

  8. Ironically the Churchill soldiered on throughout WW2, Korea and into the Cold War (engineering version in UK reserve units 1970s). The Irish army also used it for some time, up to the 1960s. Overall a good solid design.
