  1. if the sun produces 10000x more energy than we need, why would 6-8% energy loss matter? if we had some high end solar panels that were just a mile squared and could power a city for a week on 1 days charge, the wire thing would be a very small problem because we would have more energy for said city than we know what to do with. but again this is hypothetical so until we have solar panels powerful enough to do that then we'll have to take the energy loss into consideration
