And you are basing this libelous claim on what scientific data? (Hint: Anecdotal accounts from a very finite number of sources do not count as evidence.)

With respect, wishing and cajoling will not cause the currently dominant strain, the Delta variant, to disappear. As regards the "mu" variant, less data exists about it--and fewer cases result from it--to justify healthcare professionals "changing the channel" and moving on from Delta. Arguably, regardless of the nomenclature, all the variants are still part of SarsCov2, just iterations thereof, and the United States has not met the challenge with the vigour that other nations had expected.

@beachbetty2060 And therein we have the perfect encapsulation of dangerous narcissism, narcissism that will always elevate the needs and desires of the individual over that of the common good. Unfortunately for the truly selfish, the American Constitution begins with. "We the people," not "I; and said document gives the government the powers to override individual "rights" during crises, such as a pandemic.

@beachbetty2060 In point of fact, a clear minority--not a majority--wishes to bully the majority through churlish, inconsiderate, monumentally heedless and selfish behaviour, even to the point of issuing threats of violence towards those who wish to have simple health measures, such as mask mandates, imposed to protect all. But the too-frequent videos of adults acting in shameful ways--ways that would never be tolerated if displayed by a child--and threatening elected school board members and other individuals who disagree with their virulent resistance to lawful mandates, show the depths that allegedly sane adults will stoop to. The bulk of the problem lies within a mindset that cannot accept--or doesn't bloody well care--that an individual's actions can impinge upon others, their health, range of opportunities, and access to essential services. While the majority of those who contract COVID do survive, they do not necessarily come out the other end unscathed: They may suffer cardiac and respiratory damage, as well as cognitive impairment, that may never be undone. As for the suggestion that I should keep my child home, assumedly you are the adult in this scenario, and the expectation in civilized society is that adults are willing to make sacrifices for the sake of those who are younger, less powerful, and, thus, less able to make as many choices as their elders.. but maybe this is an experiment by a too vocal minority in which said minority has decided to push the bounds of civility out if some anarchic spirit. How incivil can things get before society falls apart?
