The Israeli pager attack quite demolished Israel's oft-asserted respect for civilian life during its military operations. Israel has long claimed that it uses near surgical precision in targeting enemy combatants and does its utmost to avoid civilian collateral fatalities. The pager attack gives the lie to Israel's declaration that it wages war in the most scrupulously moral way possible...and the indiscriminate nature of the attack--wherein non-combat zones and civilians were terribly impacted--has instilled a sense of terror in citizens. Hence this was an act of terrorism: Terrorism infects citizens' lives with a sense of terror through degrading their sense of security and normality.
