  3. Let's get this straight Asia covers a lot of different countries. The main place that wildlife trade is taking place is in China because it is a communist country and the government controls a lot of things and the people don't. It happens also in Vietnam because Vietnam is also Communist. Look at the history of it. It started back in the 70's and 80's, -the peak of wildlife usage and trade. Since then there have been some changes along the way but never a complete and utter halt to the whole practice all together as a whole. The Communist government allowed private farming, but there was nothing to farm since it all belonged to the government, the land, regular animals and crops. The people who worked as private farmers were basically slaves. Nothing was actually solely theirs alone to do as a please with it, therefore people were starving, so then the government said the people can have some land and they opened up wildlife trading because when people didn't have any food they resorted to eating wildlife. The government took hold of it and made wildlife trade for the purpose of food so that the communist gov. controls it and would be in the government's hand. Again, taking away from the people. So, the people under a communist regime really have no choice. they eat anything that is available to them. It really is sad. Everybody needs to stop being so harsh. A communist regime is not the same like the free world. Another thing is that mostly the rich people in these communist countries participate in it because they're making deals with the government and paying them off. Poor people might eat some strange things because they have no other choice and the rich people are enabling them to do so. Therefore, the whole country is in on it. This didn't get started because a poor or low wage working class person went to the wet market in Wuhan, Hubei province in China and purchased something that they couldn't even afford to begin with. Also, as far as a travelling goes, the same concept applies because poor and low-wage working class people cannot afford to make international trips. Their companies don't pay for it either.
