If the GOP won't pass a law like this, why won't the Democrats use this as a really big stick to bash Republicans with? I could spin this as "Republicans are causing high gas prices," without any trouble. "Republicans want you to pay more for gas because it helps their multi-national donors." This would be a great issue to use on working and middle-class voters, who are hypersensitive to gas prices. "We (the Dems) want to make green energy work for the average American and lower what you pay for energy." I am a lifelong Democrat who is just continually frustrated with the party's lack of aggressiveness in the face of right-wing fascism. This should be one of the party's core planks. It's even good for Americans who work in the oil industry. The Dems should be branding themselves as the party that wants to raise after-tax wages and reduce the cost of necessities like food and energy.
