  1. Same pattern, over and over. Climate scientists come out and sheepishly say how much we need to do something. [squeakily] "Hey guys, it's really bad." At the same time, there are people on the fringes excitedly making more dire predictions. [excitedly] "You've forgotten about the methane. The sea ice is melting faster than we predicted. Feedback loops." Then a little time passes and the staid scientists come back and they sheepishly and squeakingly say the same thing that the crazy people were just saying before. Even if the worst predictions aren't necessarily going to happen, the idea that they could happen needs to be considered. Conservatives are murdering your grandchildren. Conservative policy over the last 40 years has murdered the children of the next century. The only credible argument against nuclear power, I drastically differ from Thom on this, the only credible argument against nuclear power plants that I've heard is that they require civilization to not go hot, and there's a chance that we may not have the infrastructure to operate them after the next century. Just another feedback loop. If civilization crashes, shortly thereafter we have all the nuclear power plants melting down.
