Only 380 people are permitted to live on the island and government only allows 400 beds for tourists. So numbers of visitors are already restricted and they will not be increased.

"For scientific discovery give me Scott; for speed and efficiency of travel give me Amundsen; but when disaster strikes and all hope is gone, get down on your knees and pray for Shackleton." quote from Raymond Priestly.

Actually, these days Britain has no control over thr Falklands/Malvinas. They are self governing and elect their own politians. The economy and population are growing fast and the people have lower taxes and a much higher average income than the UK. The only area of the Falklands that the UK is involved with is "defence, for obvious reasons" as a local politian discreetly put it.

@bobjones304 Well if you look at the local Falkalnds print media, TV news etc. they very strongly "identify" as Falklanders, while still fondly seeing Britain as their ancestral homeland, in much the same way that Canadians and Australians did a century ago. But they strongly identify as their own nation which seems a bit cute considering how low their population still is. Look at their TV news which posts some stuff on YouTube as the FITV channel.

The Australian navy had a good experience with Spain, co-operating to build destroyers and some large, flat topped ships which they are not allowed to call "aircraft carriers" because it might offend the Chinese. Those ships were delivered more or less on time and on budget. But dealing with France has been the opposite, before any steel was cut for those 12 planned submarines, the price had almost doubled and the delivery date blew out by years. No wonder the Australians were keen to ditch them.
