  1. I only studied history at undergraduate level. But I write (non martime) histories anyway, some of them have even won awards. But I've been told you need a higher degree to call yourself a historian, so I use get around terms like 'writer of histories'. What I'm getting at is that if Drach calls himself a historian, quite a few people will get their knickers in a twist over him saying that.

  2. But using the term 'colony' creates a false impression to modern people as those Aust / NZ colonies were effectively indepedent with full control over their own affairs, budgets and administration, except for some aspects of foreign affairs.
