@p51mustang24 The F35 is less stealthy, slower, etc then the F22. Its a dumbed down.cheaper version we allow our ally countries to buy and purchase unlike the F22 and B2, planes we dont sell to other countries because their stealth tech is second to none. The F22 RCS (Radar cross section) is .0001 meters squared, that of a bumble bee, the F35 is slightly more around .00015 that of a marble, and worse if tracked towards the rear and with its bomb bay open.

@OttersTho The F35 does need to be faster. In a dog fight scenario it will lose. You act like missiles have a 100 percent hit rate and if missed, they will know where they are and with faster, supermanuverabile jets, they will catch up being able to climb higher/faster and not be able to be attacked. Everything has a weakness. The F22 is the best of both worlds, but it's weakness, is its price, hence being canceled. The F35 an amaizng aircraft, but as stated above, their is a reason why its significantly cheaper then the F22.(not to mention the main role of the F35 is bombing do to the " advanced electronic warfare system" aka known as the DAS, which allows 360 degree awareness and guided bombing layouts of live troops among a few minor other things.

@OttersTho "At what point did I state that missiles are 100 percent accurate? " "and is meant to eliminate a foe before they even know its there." You also basically repeated my statement on the F35. ".(not to mention the main role of the F35 is bombing)" Correct the F22 will be in service far longer then the F35 do to the F22's stealthier air frame and the F35s reliance on RAM.

@knoahbody69 The AN/APG-81 radar doesn't have the greatest range to do being a smaller version of the F22 AN/APG-77. The 81 has an around 200km range while the 77 has a 400km range. Hence why the F35 will find itself in scenarios where the Aim120 can't be used or in range of medium range or long range missiles with it's short radar range if spotted and tracked. This is why we continue to use shorter range missiles on aircraft as well. Nothing is perfect. Not even the F22, it doesnt even have IRST.
