@williamalexander9485 Russia lacks the force projection to do much of anything in the Sahel, even under the best of circumstances. Never mind when they are spending so many resources in Ukraine. Sorry their new "Afrika Corp" (A little on the nose with the name) Isn't sufficient to do much aside from protect their mineral extraction operation. Sooner or later though the extremists will take over.

It was from a report released by a UN panel of experts that circulated on Aug. 25. It said Islamic State in the Greater Sahara has almost doubled the Malian territory it controls since Wagner took over.
