Gamblers like myself are masters of lying to ourselves. We will tell ourselves that "the losses aren't so bad and I had fun" and "I've got enough money to handle it". But we never tell ourselves how much money we just wasted, or how much debt we are currently in, or what we could have spent that money more wisely on. We lie to ourselves constantly to excuse our gambling.

@trevormj It's so weird you should suggest that - I did exactly that. I bought my own slot machine and played it at home. And as sensible an idea as it sounds, it doesn't solve anything. The thrill of gambling doesn't happen when you know you can just take your money back out of the slot machine. I walked past my own slot machine to lose money on bookies slot machines every day.

@Scott Wilson It's brutal being addicted. I'm not as bad as I used to be but I'm still terrible for wasting money in slots. Years ago, I went to pick up my Mother's pension money and put it all in a slot on the way home.
