Kennedy was still president when the film was made and part of the reason they got rid of the original pie fight ending due to the line “Our president has been struck down in his prime” was due to the fact Kennedy was killed the very day they were supposed to have the premiere of the the film, so the film was pushed back to January 1964 and the ending we all now know was used instead.
