@stunleyandwin3649 As a flagship you're commanding the fleet / squadron so basically an Admiral and his attendant staff for planning, communications etc. The Captain of the ship is already busy captaining the ship.

@mcduck5 I give you HMS Warspite. Prince of Wales was a new ship with new technology, the quadruple turrets, and from memory still had civilian workers on board working out the problems. A modernised QE may not have altered HMS Hood's fate but could well have hit Bismarck a lot harder than Prince of Wales managed.
