Exactly. The idea of millions of ethnic Russians being part of NATO was too much. We risked it with the Baltic states but Ukraine was too much. We promised Russia at the end of the Cold War “Not an inch East”

Liar. Trump never wanted to remove troops from Bagram air base. Keeping troops there served two purposes. It would help to support the Afghan government and it was strategic because of its location to China. China Joe went against the military advice and pulled troops out. Now the Chinese are In Bagram!!! The Chinese! Nobody invaded Ukraine under Trump. Russia invaded twice under Biden! Facts matter.

As VP Russia invaded and as president Russia invaded. Not under Trump. Trump wanted to keep Bagram with a significant force. That would have supported the Afghan government. And strategically it’s an hour from China. Beijing Biden pulled out of Bagram. ( billions of taxpayer dollars) and now the Chinese have it!

@RainerMichelle are you saying expanding NATO to include 14 former Soviet states didn’t threaten Russia? Are you saying that offering NATO membership to Ukraine didn’t encourage the 2014 invasion? The west kept poking the bear and now everyone has amnesia. Amnesia or they haven’t studied history.

@kyle-ld2gh google the agreements made after the fall of the wall. There were many promises made. Gorbachov was only one player. If you can find a quote of him saying no agreements were made that’s up to you to believe or not. I was one of several that advised against NATO membership for Baltic states and Ukraine. Mainly because of the inflammatory nature of millions of ethnic Russians being under NATO rule. I predicted the 2014 Ukraine invasion and Biden’s weakness only emboldened Putin to invade further in 2022. I am tired of any criticism of the wests actions as pro Putin. It’s really just a lazy argument.

@kyle-ld2gh I was right then. I was arguing with internet geniuses then who said Russia couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything. Now after the second invasion we are in a proxy war with a nuclear superpower. Russia is giving massive tech swaps with Iran to get drones and missiles thus inflaming the ME and making a nuclear war there more likely. It’s like nobody can see the side affects of this war. China is laughing its head off as we deplete our stocks and hurt our economies while it gets stronger by the day. We’re you aware the US munitions are coming from stocks in Israel and South Korea? Pre positioned in those countries to deter other adversaries. Biden’s weakness invited this latest war and the wests encroachment on Russias border is the root cause. All avoidable.

@kyle-ld2gh Russia have massive stockpiles of munitions although its depleted much of its guided stock. Russia is on a war footing and is producing vast amounts of shells. We don’t have a vast amount and we are depleting them with only a tiny fraction being produced. US and UK military commanders have said as much.
