The M777 is manufactured by BAE Systems' Global Combat Systems division. Prime contract management is based in Barrow-in-Furness in the United Kingdom as well as manufacture and assembly of the titanium structures and associated recoil components. Final integration and testing of the weapon is undertaken at BAE's facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Ironically the British Army did not purchase the M777, while the Commonwealth countries of Australia and Canada have purchased the howitzers.

@frankmontez6853 Western weapon systems are produced by a consortium of Western companies working together to design and manufacture the weapon system. The M777 was an original UK design with manufacturing a joint US-UK partnership. The UK government can not buy weapon systems directly from the UK manufacturer and then donate them directly to Ukraine. The UK government can only remove weapon systems from their military inventory and donate them to another country. Since the British Army has no inventory of M777, there was nothing to donate to Ukraine from the UK military stockpile. The M777 were donated from US, Australian and Canadian military inventory.

@j.b.2263 The UK does not own any M777 howitzers and it was the US who donated the M777. So what's your point? When the UK gave Ukraine their US made M270 MLRS they had to get US permission, it's SOP written in weapons contract to prevent uncontrolled transfer of weapon systems.
