Electrical is one of my strong points you have to understand it to diagnose 90% or more on modern cars like sensors or computers that's the majority of the work
2
@KiwiPokerPlayer no would have to go through more training to understand the electric cars but yes there would still be a job 20 years from now but I don't think we will be going full electric anytime soon even though governments are pushing hard for electrification the gas engine can still get more efficient so I personally think learning the mechanical engine and vehicle will still be around for awhile
2
It's the same in the us you have to pay for the service to find or use the wiring diagram online
2
@oblivianation9759 that sounds the solenoid engaging intermittently that's motor you hear spinning is the starter itself
2
@oblivianation9759 that's a hell of alot of miles for a starter or any electrical component to last that long especially the starter
2
Yes and no
1
But that's not always the case you know you have a battery but still have so checking the fuse first is just simpler that's also where a scan tool can in handy if it shows multiple codes for low battery voltage then you check the battery
1
You always check the easiest first which is the fuse
1
You ground it so you don't burn the component out
1
They already do
1
He meant DON'T use a basic test light to check the voltage at the starter that will power up the pcm and fry it or spin the starter
1
No most horn circuits control ground so you don't burn out components especially the relay
1
Not unless you want to pay for it

The face

Great explanation of wiring diagrams I understood everything you were saying and the wiring diagram is essential to diagnosing any electrical problem
1
But not as much as electrical especially in modern cars
1
@icuranis4597 um what
1
Yeah good question I didn't understand that either
1
@jnbycinthe5478 I don't think so would still be in park to start it
1
@abes7181 you control with a ground because voltage generates more heat and can burn components on ground side there is no voltage. (Btw the neutral in houses isn't the ground that's the solid copper wire) some components are still hot at all times whether it's switched from ground side or power side
1
The ones who work on modern ones should
1
Resistance problem could be a low battery, corrosion, loose wire, a short, partially broken wire
1
@benjurqunov I've never heard that one
1
Shop Experience with this helps alot more
1
@pedromartin4437 that's usually where you start as you learn more you will do more
