it was so easy for them to do the right things but they didnt, that's what breaks my heart when it comes to new labour. There was very much a 'havent we done well' mentality yet at the same time poor workers really suffered being put in increasingly worsening circumstances. No wonder that mental health problems shot up in their tenure.

@Ade76 any backlash New Labour suffered is there own fault, they had a good chance to make a just fair country for all, but even before the economic downturn New Labour didnt give a damn about single poor working people, struggling by on a low wage with constantly increasing utility bills, rents and council tax. They led down this huge demographic and lost the election because of it.
