It's not that people dont want fair haired/red haired children, but they want a child that resembles them.People with red and blonde hair are a minority, most people have brown or black hair, hence demand for that will be higher. If both parents have black hair and the child has blonde/red hair it will make it a bit suspect, people will kind of guess the child may be adopted, or may even suspect the wife was being a bit of a player with a liking for blonde/red haired men :)
