Is "accelerate the process" anything like speeding up the pregnancy? Just throw more of whatever one already has and that baby will come quicker.

Except that was 1945-1959 while the transistor was 1947 (independently discovered by German scientists in 1948) by Americans. Important because that effectively kicked off the modern electronics industry. OP would be great if this channel was doing a story on aerospace or rocketry and not photolithography.

This channel did a good story on other counties attempts. Controlling the small is very hard, and multiple reasons to fail. Plus, the leaders aren't standing still waiting for everyone else to catch up.
