Agreed, 100% ! Except one small detail, if I may sir. Patriotism starts IN THE HOME ! My father volunteered in 1938 for RAF service and came through Battle of Britain, North Africa, Italy. HIS passion for HIS "Lovely Spits" and all the "Bods" he knew and many who were lost, taught ME from a VERY young age what his generation had done for MINE. That same passion was continued and deepened at Primary AND secondary schools by many teachers who had ALSO come through service and war for OUR "Better future". How many parents OR teachers today, open children's eyes to the DEBT we all owe to those who served for OUR freedoms and way of life ? Even the bbc USED to show that same pride in OUR nation, but not any longer. Instead, just like many teachers and others in authority, they LIE about our past and ALL OUR PEOPLE BUILT

@susanmitchell4744 Thank you. It sounds like we are of that same generation my friend. Both of my Grandfathers fought in WW1 also. Like my Dad in WW2, one of my Grandfathers had volunteered just before WW1 and came right through that appalling waste of life. I still have all of his medals including his "Mons Star" as he was one of the "Old Contemptibles". He had also suffered at the Etaples "Training Camp" and had been there shortly before the famous mutiny. DESPITE that wicked treatment which had turned him into a staunch life long Labour voter, he too was fiercely patriotic, BECAUSE of the things he had seen, both in the "sheer bloody courage of the ORDINARY bloke" AND having seen the poverty in OTHER nations overseas. A "Lord Lieutenant of Essex" whose daughter I knew, had been a Colonel in WW1 and always said to us "We had the sheer PRIVILEGE to have been brought up in our system, which imposes the DUTY on all of us to help OTHERS !" A kind of "pay it FORWARD" to BUILD. NOT the current "Pay BACK and destroy" of Marxism
