  1. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and I remember even in the 70s being able to just walk in to High Street Jewellers and browse at will. They had cctv cameras but that was it. First Motorbike was a BSA with NO ignition key, just a switch. Really sad nowadays

An English upbringing, schooling and enculturation ensured relative levels of honesty AND "civic duty" from English values, that the NEED for shops to have a "Bunker mentality" did not exist.
